Through chiropractic care, we can help you alleviate your sciatica pain and resolve the condition.
Sciatica is a form of nerve pain associated with the sciatic nerve. This nerve is located along the length of each of your legs, from the heel up through the hip and in the lower back region. When you have sciatica this nerve is being pinched or pressed against by surrounding soft tissue. As a result, you experience pain known as sciatica in the affected area. Sciatic nerve pain can occur once in a lifetime, or you can suffer from reoccurring or chronic sciatica.
The most common symptom of sciatica is lower back pain. In fact, often our patients will come to us with complaints of lower back pain that they feel is caused by a torn muscle or herniated disc. However, with sciatic nerve pain, this differs from lower back pain. Sciatica causes sharp pain, sometimes described as a pinching feeling, within a targeted area. This is where the pressing or pinching of the sciatic nerve is located. You will suffer from sciatica on one side of your body, as a result, while lower back pain occurs throughout both sides of the back. Other symptoms of sciatica are tingling, numbness, and pain when sitting or standing for long periods.
The cause of sciatic nerve pain is the pressure against the sciatic nerve. Our nerve endings are highly sensitive and receptive to misalignments in the body. When your musculoskeletal system is out of alignment, this can cause the soft tissue surrounding the sciatic nerve to be improperly positioned, resulting in the pressure. If your soft tissue is inflamed, either due to misalignment and repetitive motions or a herniated disc in the lower spine, this can also put undue pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Our first priority in treatment for sciatica in Fargo is to realign the spine. When the musculoskeletal system is put in the proper position this alleviates any possible pressure caused by lack of alignment. Additionally, an adjustment provides a flow of nutritionally rich fluid throughout the body, which can provide all-natural pain relief.

In 2008 I had double knee replacement and in 2012 another replacement on my left knee, doctors thinking it was the material in the replacement causing inflammation that was resulting in so much pain. That didn’t work and my pain was getting worse. I was on a lot of pain meds and after 10 years of taking them they were not working very well.
I tried everything out there that might help even going to Mayo Clinic. Nothing was working and I was giving up. I read Dr. Christenson’s ad that popped up on my iPad. It was something I’d never tried so decided to try one more time.
It didn’t work immediately but Dr. Christenson encouraged me to keep going. About a month into the procedure it started working and every week I got better and better. I can walk longer distances and climbing steps and even kneeling with very little pain.
Thank you Dr. Christenson for helping me and encouraging me to keep going. You had changed my quality of life. You have a wonderful friendly staff.
