Dr. Matthew Christenson
Age: 29
Business: Big Country Clinic of Chiropractic
Job Title: Doctor of Chiropractic/Owner
The person who most influenced you in business: One is Dr. Thomas A. Owen (D.C.). This man has the biggest heart I know and is a living legend within Chiropractic. The second is Dr. Chad Petterson (D.C.). He is without a doubt the most humble and positive person I know. These two are giants amongst men and I am grateful to have learned from them.
The best advice you have ever received: I once read somewhere that people want three things in life: attention, affection and appreciation. When this is practiced not only does the other person benefit and feel good about the relationship/activity but you do as well. It becomes a Blessing to both parties involved. I use this in every relationship I have whether it be with my family, patients, staff or the person waiting our table. There is tremendous power in depositing good into people’s lives. This is needed by every one of us, especially in the world we live in today.
The most significant hurdle you had to overcome to get where you are: My wife and I left everything to come to Texas to start our practice and new life. That includes our family, friends and anything familiar. All we had was faith, hope and a vision for our practice. The biggest risk we ever took has turned out to be the greatest Blessing we have ever received from HIM.
The one thing you would do differently if you were just starting in this business: I honestly would not change a thing. Every success or obstacle that has come along so far has made me who I am today. And like the saying goes what doesn’t kill us, only makes us stronger.
What you want to be doing in 20 years: Wow, 20 years from now! I guess I would still like to be helping people enjoy better quality lives through Chiropractic (maybe slow down a little bit). I would also like to be helping other chiropractors start and run successful practices. Personally I want to be at a point where I can devote as much time and attention to my loved ones as possible. It doesn’t matter what we are doing as long as it’s together.
Your family: I am surrounded by my beautiful wife Jessica and our jovial 2.5 year old daughter Sophia. These two ladies are my everything.
